We travel to where our soul is...

Today I thought up this little sentence. I was looking at the movie Into the wild and this sentence just came up. It is the second best sentence that tellls what I feel about traveling and hiking.

I mean, When people travel to some far away they easily say that they could live there for ever. We go to new places to flee away from the stressfull life. We wanna relax.

I just wanna feel freedom. Not to worry about going to a specific place and need to get there at a certain time. Just to walk and stop when I wanna stop...

Here are the things you need to know that happend after the last blog:

  2. I decided I am gonna walk the West Highland Way. This is a very nice 152 km long route in Scotland. It runs from the outskirts of Glasgow to Ben Nevis (the highest mountain of Scotland.)

For more I promise i will bring some nice reviews about gear I am gonna buy. Such as:
  • A new Lighter sleeping bag. The one I now own weighs 1,5 kg.
  • Hiking socks. Some strong good one (Bridgedales or Icebreaker)

Young Pup Hike 3: Day 2

Breakfeast: Bread, Cheese and cactus thea
Departure: 8.50 am
Target: Blankenberge
Arrival at Target: Didn't got there
Dinner: cakes and water
Supper: At home

Woke up at 8 am. First I putted the kettle on and and start to break up my tent. Had some breakfeast and got going.

Halfway the next city i got a phone for a job the next day.
So Instead of going to Blankenberge, I went to the train station and got to Home. ( eveything for a job, wright?)

So my vacation was shortened quite a bit but I'm happy with this first job offer.
Mostly My back and shoulders hurt. The pain in my shoulders is mostly because I have the wrong size of backpack. I am gonna buy a new one.

Maybe it wil be the Abisko from Fjällräven. Or maybe the Deuter I wrote about some earlier this year. We'll see.
I will plan a bigger trip So finally I can do decent trip. But I have work :-D

Young Pup Hike 2: Day 1

"Next blog is from my logbook"

08/sept/2010
Day 1

Breakfeast: At home
Train: 06.25 am -> 09.15 am
Target: Campsite "De zeester" (Sea star)
Arrival at Target: 3.41 pm
Dinner: Bread, cheese and Gingerbread
Supper: Spaghetti, green peppers, bacon, Mozzarella.

From the moment I s
tepped out of the train i was wet. Good I brought that Poncho.
I started walking and singing some unknown song. I had a really great time

Done much walking today. I was so happy when I got to t
he Campsite. It was really nice that everything went as I planned out.
Accept for the rain. But I just
bought a new Poncho and it did its job really good. And thanks to the Fjällräven Oswego Shirt I actually stayed well ventilated. I LOVE THIS BRAND!!!!!!!

I might have walked a bit to fast and hard because my feet felt just so bad. As i was building my tent I found out I forgot my kite. Now I was at the sea and no kite! I was sad for a moment.

The cooking wasn't easy, but that is because my tent was to small and it was raining. To be honest it was very calm, I saw maybe 50 people in total this day. Thanks to the rain mostly.

Half way I walked true a nature park, it was Really amazing. So nice views and very pretty terrain. I loved it. One of the best parts of the Hike.

What did I learned: Never, ever, ever ,ever take out a card during the rain!!!!!!
I will post Day 2 Shortly,

My stuff 2...

As promised a review about my Trangia cooking Stove.
Weight:
- 860 grams
Materials:
- Aluminium
- Ultralight Hardanodized Aluminium
- Non-Stick

This is a great Cooking stove.
It is build by a swedish company who make this exact design since 1925.
The only difference are the materials these days.

The basic principle is that you cook on Ethanol or Methanol.

It is possible to cook below -10°C if you prime it and it has no moving parts so it almost impossible to break down. You can cook in it if you plan a bit.
It's real easy and simple. You can buy Ethanol or Methanol in every scandinavian shop in every village. Good for me ;-). It may even works with strong vodka or anything else that has a high alcohol percentage. (above 70° is real minimum, above 90° is better)

Now the down points:
- Uses a bit much fuel in cold weather.
- You can't adjust the flame that much.
- if you go to real cold weather (polar like) it won't work. Than you can better use Gasoline in special stoves.

But after all I love it so much. It's easy ,just so simple and so sturdy. Used it a lot of times and always did it do the job. Perfect and amazing.

PS: Just BUY it :-D
